This information forms part of the Youth Music Database
This is a collection of sites on the internet that may feed your hunger for ideas and information about music, the music business, young people, and so on.
Australian Music
There’s no better place to start than the Music Council of Australia if you want to find out about what is behind musical life in Australia, policy, research, and other information. Check out the MCA website or subscribe to Music Forum magazine by joining the MCA for $49 a year. We’re happy to unashamedly plug this because the AYMC is part of the MCA, and Music Forum really is an excellent read.
Soulshine is a youth-oriented music website, primarily supporting Australian and NZ independent music. Founded in July 2004 and launched April 2005, Soulshine is an online community that brings together like-minded people through music. The site hosts an extensive artist database; live reviews; CD reviews; interviews and much more. www.soulshine.com.au
Music Business
Hypebot – Music. Technology. The New Music Business
Music Think Tank – a UK based site packed with ideas
The Music Network – news and information from this magazine site
Young People
The Foundation for Young Australians website is a great resource if you want to read about current youth issues.
Many other youth advocacy and support organisations have great bulletins and newsletters. Check out the list on our Youth Music Database
